Dale Backlund Appointed Alternate Director
07/17/07 - Replaces Dow's Sandy Galganski
Sacramento, CA - CICC is pleased to welcome Dale Backlund (Dow) as a new Alternate Director replacing Sandy Galganski who recently moved to Portland, OR to assume a position with the Boeing Co.
Dale Backlund, is presently the Tracy, California Site Leader, but he will assume new responsibilities as Dow's EH&S Regulatory Affairs Leader for California. He will maintain his current responsibilities until a successful transition plan is developed. Dale will work directly with legislative and regulatory issues involving both operations and emerging product issues, as well as soil and ground water remediation strategies.
He will co-chair Dow's California Climate Change team and participate in a number of trade groups which including: CICC, California Manufacturers & Technology Association (CMTA), Council for Environment & Economic Balance (CCEEB), Partnership for Sound Science in Economic Policy (PSSEP), and the Industrial Association of Contra Costa County (IACCC).
Dale joins our CICC team with a solid understanding of Environmental Health & Safety. In addition to his site leader role for Tracy, CA, Dale was the Responsible Care leader for the site. Dale worked to change the EH&S culture on the site and drastically improve the injury rate at the facility. Prior to his role at Tracy, Dale has spent 15 years in various manufacturing and engineering positions on the Pittsburg, CA facility including 4 years in EH&S. Dale graduated from UC Davis in 1986 with a degree in Chemical Engineering.
